✨ Today’s Discipline | Prayer

Remaining with Christ in Honest Communion

Prayer is the practice of drawing near to God through Jesus Christ and remaining with Him in honest communion. Because of Christ’s death and resurrection, we are no longer separated from God—we have been welcomed into His presence. In Hebrews 10:19–22 (ESV), we are invited to “draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith.” Prayer is the response of those who have been brought near by grace.

Jesus Himself prayed continually. He withdrew to be with the Father, not out of obligation, but out of relationship. Through Him, prayer becomes more than presenting requests—it becomes abiding. In John 15:4 (ESV), Jesus says, “Abide in me, and I in you.” Prayer is one of the ways we remain with Him throughout the day, turning our attention again and again toward His presence.

Prayer also forms trust. As we bring our fears, desires, gratitude, and weakness before Christ, we begin to rest more deeply in His care. We learn that He is not distant or indifferent, but attentive and faithful. Prayer reshapes the heart because it keeps returning us to the One who holds us.

Guided Practice

Today, practice prayer as ongoing communion with Christ.

Set aside intentional time to pray:

  • Begin by acknowledging Christ’s presence with you

  • Speak honestly about what is on your heart—your gratitude, fears, hopes, and needs

  • Pray through a short passage of Scripture, turning its truths into prayer

  • Sit quietly for a moment after praying, allowing space simply to be with Him

Throughout the day, continue returning your attention to Christ with short prayers:

  • “Help me trust You.”

  • “Thank You for being near.”

  • “Lead me today.”

Let prayer become less about performance and more about presence.

Reflection Prompt
