"Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you." – Colossians 3:13
Devotional Reflection
Forgiveness is one of the hardest acts of love, yet it is also one of the clearest ways we reflect Christ. In Colossians 3:13, we are reminded that our ability to forgive should not be based on what feels fair or deserved but on the forgiveness we ourselves have received from God.
Jesus didn’t wait for us to be worthy of forgiveness—He extended it freely, covering every wrong with His grace. When we choose to forgive, we mirror His love, breaking the cycle of bitterness and allowing healing to take root. Forgiveness does not mean excusing hurt or ignoring pain, but it does mean releasing the burden of resentment and trusting God to bring justice and restoration.
Who do you need to forgive today? Is there a weight you’ve been carrying that God is calling you to surrender? Love, at its deepest, is not just about words—it is about grace in action.
Inhale Truth, Exhale Trust
Breath Prayer: (Inhale) As You have forgiven me…(Exhale) I choose to forgive.
How to Practice a Breath Prayer: Find a quiet space where you can sit comfortably and take a few deep breaths to settle your heart. As you inhale, silently pray the first part of the phrase (e.g., “As You have forgiven me…”), and as you exhale, pray the second part (e.g., “…I choose to forgive.”). Repeat the prayer slowly for 2–5 minutes, allowing God’s grace to soften your heart toward forgiveness.
Practical Application
Examine Your Heart: Ask God to reveal any unforgiveness in your heart. Write down the names of those you need to forgive and pray over them.
Take a Step Toward Reconciliation: If possible, reach out to someone you’ve been holding resentment toward and extend kindness, even if it’s just through prayer.
Forgive Yourself: Sometimes, the hardest person to forgive is yourself. Ask God to help you release past mistakes and walk in the freedom of His grace.
Journal Prompt
Is there someone you need to forgive? How does remembering Christ’s forgiveness help you take that step? Write about what it means to extend love through forgiveness.
Closing Prayer
Father, You have forgiven me completely, not because I deserved it, but because of Your great love. Help me to extend that same forgiveness to others, even when it’s hard. Free me from the burden of bitterness and teach me to love as You love. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Invitation to Live with Truth, Goodness, and Beauty
Forgiveness is an act of love and a reflection of God’s grace. Walk in freedom today by choosing to forgive, just as Christ has forgiven you.
