Scripture
“I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit.”—John 15:5 ESV
Devotional
Jesus identifies Himself as the vine, the source from which every branch receives life. A branch remains alive because the vine continually carries nourishment into it. In the same way, Christ sustains our faith, strengthens our obedience, and supplies everything needed for spiritual growth.
Abiding means living with a steady awareness of our dependence on Jesus. We bring Him our weakness, receive His Word, respond to His Spirit, and trust His presence within us. He remains faithful through every season, including those when growth feels slow or fruit has yet to appear.
The life of Christ within us will produce fruit in His timing. Love, patience, courage, holiness, and faithful service grow as His grace works through our surrendered lives. We can rest in the strength of the Vine and trust Him to carry the work He has begun.
Reflection Question
Where do you need to trust Christ to supply the strength and growth you cannot produce on your own?
