Fruitfulness Takes Time

Scripture

“See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient about it, until it receives the early and the late rains. You also, be patient. Establish your hearts.”—James 5:7–8 ESV

Devotional

A farmer cannot hurry the harvest. She prepares the soil, plants the seed, tends what has been entrusted to her, and waits for rain she cannot produce. James uses this picture to teach us patient faithfulness as we await the return of Christ and trust His work within us.

Spiritual fruit often develops beneath the surface before it becomes visible. Christ may be deepening your roots, refining your desires, or strengthening your endurance during a season that feels slow. His Spirit continues working through every prayer, act of obedience, and quiet return to truth.

Patience becomes possible when our hearts are established in Jesus. He is Lord of the seed, the rain, and the harvest. We can faithfully tend what He has placed before us while trusting Him to bring growth in its proper season.
