Scripture Focus
“Thus says the Lord:
‘Stand by the roads, and look,
and ask for the ancient paths,
where the good way is; and walk in it,
and find rest for your souls.’”
— Jeremiah 6:16 (ESV)
Devotional Reflection
There are moments in life when we find ourselves standing at a crossroads — unsure, weary, or longing for clarity. Into that very place, God speaks: Stand. Look. Ask. Walk.
Contentment is found not by chasing the newest way, but by returning to the ancient path — the way of trust, obedience, and communion with God. The “good way” is not always the easiest way; it is the way that leads to rest for the soul.
When life feels complicated, God’s call is one of simplicity: stop, pay attention, ask for His direction, and walk in the path He reveals. This is the rhythm of a content heart — not rushing ahead, not grasping for control, but discerning the way God is leading and following Him step by steady step.
The world promises fulfillment in many directions, but only one path leads to rest. Contentment grows when we choose the good way — the way God has always marked out for His people: trust in His guidance, obedience to His voice, and quiet confidence in His care.
Inhale Truth, Exhale Trust
Breath Prayer:
Inhale: Show me the good way.
Exhale: I will walk in Your rest.
How to Practice a Breath Prayer:
Pause before your next decision, big or small. As you inhale, ask God for His direction. As you exhale, release the pressure to figure everything out. Let each breath become a step toward the ancient path of His peace.
Practical Application
Stand still. Take a moment today to pause in silence before God and acknowledge your need for His direction.
Ask for clarity. Bring one decision or desire before Him and simply pray, “Show me the ancient path.”
Walk slowly. Choose one small, faithful step that aligns with God’s way — even if it feels ordinary.
Journal Prompt
Where do you sense God inviting you to slow down, look around, and ask for His guidance? What “ancient path” do you need to return to in this season?
Closing Prayer
Lord, lead me in the good way. Teach me to stand, look, ask, and walk with a heart that trusts Your wisdom. Quiet the noise that pulls me off course and guide me into the path where rest is found. May my soul find peace as I follow where You lead. Amen.
Invitation to Train for Godliness, Run with Aim, and Finish the Race
Train your heart to seek God’s direction before your own. Run with intention along the path He marks as good. Finish today walking in His rest, confident that He guides every step.
