Scripture Focus
“Have you not known? Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He does not faint or grow weary;
his understanding is unsearchable.
He gives power to the faint,
and to him who has no might he increases strength.
Even youths shall faint and be weary,
and young men shall fall exhausted;
but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary;
they shall walk and not faint.”
— Isaiah 40:28–31, ESV
Devotional Reflection
Our endurance falters when we believe that the weight of perseverance depends solely on us. But Isaiah reminds us: the Everlasting God does not grow tired. He never falls short, never collapses beneath the burden of holding the universe together.
We are not asked to conjure strength from our own reserves; we are invited to wait on the Lord. Waiting is not idle—it is active trust, a leaning into God’s steady faithfulness. When we wait, He renews. He teaches us to run without collapsing, to walk without fainting, to soar when the ground beneath us gives way.
Perseverance, then, is not about what we hold up but about who holds us up.
Inhale Truth, Exhale Trust
Inhale: God does not grow weary.
Exhale: He renews my strength.
Breath Prayer
“Everlasting God, renew my strength.”
How to Practice a Breath Prayer:
Pause wherever you are. As you breathe in, pray: “Everlasting God…” As you breathe out, pray: “…renew my strength.” Repeat slowly until His presence steadies your heart.
Practical Application
Choose one moment today to stop and wait on the Lord—before a meeting, while doing chores, or at the close of the day. In that pause, consciously release your weariness and ask Him to restore you.
Journal Prompt
Where in my life am I relying on my own strength instead of waiting on God to renew me?
Closing Prayer
Everlasting God, You do not faint or grow weary. Teach me to wait on You, that my strength may be renewed. Lift my heart, steady my steps, and help me to run without losing hope. Amen.
Invitation to Train for Godliness, Run with Aim, and Finish the Race
Perseverance is not about sprinting harder but trusting deeper. Train your heart to wait on the Lord, run with the confidence that He renews your strength, and finish the race knowing His power sustains you every step.
