Scripture
“Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm.”—Ephesians 6:13 ESV
Devotional
Following Jesus will sometimes require us to remain steady when obedience meets resistance. Discouragement, temptation, distraction, and fear can press against the work Christ has placed before us. Paul prepares believers for these moments by reminding us that God has already provided everything needed to stand.
The armor of God is rooted in what Christ has accomplished. His truth steadies us, His righteousness covers us, His gospel gives us peace, and His salvation secures our hope. We withstand resistance by relying on the strength of the risen Jesus and holding firmly to what He has declared.
Standing firm may look quiet and ordinary. It may mean returning to prayer, refusing an old pattern, speaking truth to your anxious thoughts, or continuing an act of obedience that has become difficult. Christ remains with you in the struggle, strengthening you to stay faithful until the pressure passes.
Reflection Question
Where is resistance testing your faithfulness, and which truth about Christ will help you stand firm today?
