What Is Forming in Secret
Wednesday of Holy Week is quiet on the surface, but not empty. While Jesus continues moving steadily toward the cross, something else is unfolding in secret. Judas makes a decision — not in a crowd, not in the open, but in private. What has been forming internally begins to take shape.
This moment reminds us that the most significant movements of the heart often happen unseen. Long before actions are visible, direction is set inwardly. Small compromises, quiet resistance, or subtle shifts in trust can grow over time if left unexamined.
Judas did not begin with betrayal. He walked with Jesus. He witnessed miracles. He heard truth. Yet somewhere along the way, something within him began to turn. What was once devotion became distance. What was once closeness became calculation.
Scripture speaks to this kind of hidden formation in Proverbs 4:23: “Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life.” The heart is not static. It is always being shaped — either toward trust or away from it.
Holy Week invites us to pay attention not only to what we do, but to what is forming within us. Jesus is not only concerned with outward faithfulness. He cares deeply about the direction of our hearts.
The quiet places matter.
What forms there will eventually be revealed.
Practice
Take a few quiet moments to sit with the Lord.
Ask honestly:
“Jesus, what is forming in my heart right now?”
Listen without rushing. Let Him gently reveal anything that needs to be brought into the light.
Reflection Question
Is there anything in my heart that I have allowed to grow in secret that needs to be surrendered?
