Scripture Focus:
Galatians 6:9 (ESV)
“And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.”
Steady in the Waiting
Waiting can test our endurance. When answers are slow or change feels distant, it is easy to become discouraged. Paul’s encouragement in Galatians reminds us that perseverance matters. The invitation is not simply to wait passively, but to remain faithful — continuing to do what is good and right even when the outcome is not yet visible.
Faithfulness in waiting requires trust in God’s timing. Paul assures believers that “in due season we will reap.” The harvest is real, but it unfolds according to God’s wisdom rather than our urgency. Lent teaches us to hold steady in this space, trusting that the quiet obedience of today is part of God’s larger work.
James echoes this same call: “Be patient… until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth” (James 5:7, ESV). A farmer cannot rush the growth of a seed, but he continues tending the soil with confidence that the harvest will come. In the same way, our faithfulness in small acts of obedience becomes the soil where God’s purposes grow.
Steadiness in the waiting is not wasted effort. Each quiet act of trust becomes a testimony that our hope rests not in immediate results but in the faithfulness of God.
Practice
Think of one good and faithful practice you’ve been tempted to abandon — prayer, patience, kindness, forgiveness, or obedience.
Ask God to strengthen you to continue.
Pray:
“Lord, help me remain steady while I wait for Your timing.”
Reflection Question
Where might God be inviting me to remain faithful instead of giving up?
