Scripture Focus
“And Saul sought to pin David to the wall with the spear, but he eluded Saul, so that he struck the spear into the wall. And David fled and escaped that night. Saul sent messengers to David’s house to watch him, that he might kill him in the morning. But Michal, David’s wife, told him, ‘If you do not escape with your life tonight, tomorrow you will be killed.’ So Michal let David down through the window, and he fled away and escaped.” – 1 Samuel 19:10–12 (ESV)
Devotional Reflection
David’s life shifted overnight from victory and honor to running for his life. Saul’s jealousy turned murderous, and David was forced to flee. Yet even in the threat, God’s hand of protection was at work—guiding David’s steps, using Michal’s warning, and making a way of escape.
Trust often feels most fragile when danger surrounds us—whether physical threat, relational betrayal, or the loss of security we thought was certain. But David’s story reminds us that God’s faithfulness is not absent in the threat. His care shows up in the timely word, the unexpected ally, the narrow way out.
Trust does not mean the absence of fear—it means believing that God’s presence and protection are stronger than anything set against us.
