Scripture Focus
“And while he was at Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, as he was reclining at table, a woman came with an alabaster flask of ointment of pure nard, very costly, and she broke the flask and poured it over his head.” – Mark 14:3 (ESV)
Devotional Reflection
The woman who anointed Jesus did not offer Him what was convenient—she offered Him what was precious. She broke the jar, not measuring what she would keep, but giving all of it, all at once. Love moved her to action.
This wasn’t a display of extravagance. It was the overflow of a heart that had seen something greater than itself—greater than dignity, wealth, or reputation. It was a response. And Jesus received it.
Following Jesus will sometimes look like breaking open what we’ve preserved and pouring it out at His feet—not for what He can do, but for who He is. The world may call it wasteful. Jesus calls it beautiful.
Inhale Truth, Exhale Trust
Jesus sees the offering of your love—especially the kind that costs you something. As you breathe, remember that nothing surrendered to Him is ever wasted.
Breath Prayer:
Inhale: “Jesus, You are worthy…”
Exhale: “…of all I hold dear.”
Practical Application
Is there something you’ve been saving, guarding, or withholding that God may be asking you to release as worship? Today, consider offering it—not for recognition, but from love.
Journal Prompt
What would it look like to pour out something costly to Jesus—not to earn anything, but to express love?
Closing Prayer
Jesus, help me to love You without calculation. Let my devotion be honest, generous, and full. Show me where I’ve been holding back, and give me the courage to lay it all before You. Amen.
Invitation to Live with Truth, Goodness, and Beauty
When love leads, surrender follows. There is beauty in giving all to the One who gave everything for us.
