Delighting in Christ Above All Else
Worship is the practice of directing our attention, affection, and allegiance toward Jesus Christ. It begins not with our feelings, but with His worthiness. Christ is the image of the invisible God, the Savior who redeemed us, and the King who reigns forever. In Colossians 1:15–18 (ESV), Paul presents Christ as supreme over all things. Worship is the fitting response to who He is.
Throughout Scripture, worship is more than music or gathered services. It is the posture of a heart captivated by God. What we treasure most will inevitably shape the way we live. Worship forms us because it fixes our gaze on Christ rather than ourselves. As we behold His beauty, mercy, and majesty, the Spirit gradually conforms us to His image.
The goal of worship is not merely to express praise but to enjoy God. Through the work of Christ, we have been brought near to the Father. We no longer worship in order to earn acceptance; we worship because we have already received it. Worship is the joyful response of those who know they are loved by God and belong to Him.
Guided Practice
Today, spend intentional time delighting in Christ.
Read a passage that highlights the person and work of Jesus
Listen to or sing a worship song slowly and attentively
Write down three attributes of Christ that stir your gratitude and admiration
Thank Him specifically for who He is, not only for what He has done
Offer your plans, concerns, and desires to Him as an act of surrender
As you worship, focus on Christ Himself. Let your attention linger on His character and His presence.
Pray:
"Jesus, open my eyes to see Your beauty more clearly. Shape my heart as I worship You and help me delight in You above all else."
