Searching the Scriptures to Know Christ
Study is the practice of carefully exploring God's Word so that we may know Christ more faithfully and be transformed by His truth. It is more than gathering information or answering difficult questions. Study is an act of discipleship—a way of sitting at the feet of Jesus and allowing His Word to shape our minds, our hearts, and our lives.
Paul reminds Timothy in 2 Timothy 3:16–17 (ESV) that “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness.” Every page of Scripture has been given to reveal God's character, point us to Christ, and equip us to faithfully follow Him. The goal of study is not simply to know the Bible better, but to know the God of the Bible more deeply.
Study also cultivates discernment. As we learn to read passages in their historical, literary, and redemptive context, we become less likely to be shaped by the shifting opinions of the world and more firmly rooted in God's truth. The Holy Spirit uses careful study to renew our minds, strengthen our faith, and deepen our confidence in the gospel. As we see Christ more clearly in Scripture, we are drawn to worship Him more fully.
Guided Practice
Today, spend extra time studying a passage from your Bible reading.
As you read, ask:
What does this passage teach me about God's character?
How does it fit within the larger story of Scripture?
How does it point to Christ?
What would the original audience have understood?
What truth is God inviting me to believe or obey today?
If possible, use a trusted study Bible or commentary to better understand the passage.
Write down one new insight about Christ and one practical way you can respond in faith today.
Pray:
"Father, thank You for giving me Your Word. Open my mind to understand it and my heart to receive it. Help me see Christ more clearly in the Scriptures, and let what I learn transform the way I think, love, and live."

What did I learn about Christ through today's study, and how does that truth invite me to trust Him more deeply and follow Him more faithfully?
