Walk Worthy of the Calling

“I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love.”—Ephesians 4:1–2 ESV
Devotional
The calling we have received begins with belonging to Christ. Through His grace, we have been brought near to God, joined to His people, and given a new way of life. To walk worthy of that calling means allowing the reality of the gospel to shape how we move through each day.
Paul describes this life through humility, gentleness, patience, and love. These qualities reveal the character of Jesus, who humbled Himself, dealt tenderly with the weak, and bore with His disciples in love. The Spirit forms the same character in us as we follow Christ in our relationships and responsibilities.
Our calling becomes visible through the way we treat the people before us. Every patient response, humble choice, and act of costly love reflects the One who called us. Jesus supplies the grace to live in a way that honors Him and makes His character known.
