Turn to Me and Be Saved

Isaiah 45

“Turn to me and be saved, all the ends of the earth! For I am God, and there is no other.” — Isaiah 45:22 (ESV)

Isaiah 45 speaks with breathtaking clarity about who God is. He is not one option among many, not a made up deity, and not a distant force moving vaguely through history. He is the Lord, and there is no other. The chapter presses this truth again and again so that every false refuge, every competing trust, and every illusion of control is exposed in the light of His absolute sovereignty.

And yet this sovereign God is not merely displaying power. He is moving history toward salvation. Even through rulers who do not know Him, He is accomplishing His purposes. That means the people of God are never at the mercy of circumstance alone. The Lord is at work beyond what is visible, and His hand is not hindered by the blindness or resistance of man.

Then comes the tender summons at the heart of the chapter: “Turn to me and be saved.” The God who stands above all things is also the God who calls sinners to Himself. He does not invite us to save ourselves, improve ourselves, or establish our own righteousness. He calls us to turn. Salvation is found not in our effort, but in His person.

This reaches its fullness in Christ. Jesus is the one in whom the saving purpose of Isaiah 45 is made known completely. He is the Lord to whom every knee will bow and every tongue confess. He is the righteousness and strength spoken of in the chapter. To turn to God now means turning to Christ, the one through whom salvation has come near. In Him, God’s sovereign rule and saving mercy meet perfectly.

So Isaiah 45 teaches us to let go of every lesser hope and to look fully to the Lord. The heart is always tempted to scatter its trust across many things—control, people, certainty, performance. But salvation is not divided. It is found in God alone, and in Christ He has come near enough to be seen, trusted, and loved. The call is simple and life-giving: turn to Him.
