Seeing Christ Clearly in the Word
Study begins with Jesus Christ, the Word made flesh, who makes God known. To study Scripture is to seek Him—to understand what God has spoken and how all of it reveals His Son. In Luke 24:27 (ESV), Jesus interprets “in all the Scriptures the things concerning himself,” showing that the whole of Scripture finds its meaning in Him. Study is not merely learning about the Bible; it is learning to see Christ within it.
This practice calls us beyond surface reading into careful attention. In 2 Timothy 2:15 (ESV), we are exhorted to “rightly handle the word of truth.” Study forms us by grounding our faith in what is true, helping us understand context, meaning, and the unfolding story of God’s redemptive work. It protects us from misunderstanding and deepens our confidence in who God is.
As we study, we begin to see the unity of Scripture—how promises, covenants, and fulfillment all lead to Christ. The Spirit uses this clarity not just to inform us, but to transform us, shaping how we think, trust, and live. Study becomes a way of beholding Christ with greater precision, so that our lives may be formed more fully in His likeness.
Guided Practice
Today, study a passage with the aim of seeing Christ more clearly.
Choose a short passage from your reading
Observe carefully: What stands out? What is repeated or emphasized?
Consider the context: Who is speaking? To whom? What is happening?
Ask: How does this passage point to Christ—His character, His work, or our need for Him?
Use a trusted resource if helpful (study Bible, commentary, or the Bible Reading Journey in the ForméWell app).
Write a brief summary of what you’ve come to understand—focusing on what it reveals about Christ.
Reflection Prompt
What did I come to see more clearly about Christ through this passage—and how does that shape the way I trust and follow Him?
