✨ Today’s Discipline | Prayer
Delighting in Communion with God
Prayer is the practice of drawing near to God through Jesus Christ and enjoying fellowship with Him. It is not merely a way to ask for help, but a way of abiding in the One who loves us. Because of Christ's death and resurrection, we have been welcomed into the Father's presence. Prayer is the privilege of speaking with Him honestly, listening to His Word, and growing in relationship with Him.
Jesus taught His disciples not only how to pray, but why they could pray. He revealed God as "Our Father" (Matthew 6:9, ESV), inviting His followers into the same relationship He enjoyed with the Father. Through our union with Christ, we come before God not as strangers seeking acceptance but as beloved children welcomed by grace. Prayer reminds us that Christianity is not merely about following principles—it is about knowing a Person.
Prayer also forms dependence. As we regularly bring our hopes, fears, gratitude, and burdens before God, we learn to trust His wisdom above our own. We discover that the greatest gift of prayer is not always the answers we receive but the communion we experience. The more time we spend with Christ, the more our hearts are shaped by His love, our desires are aligned with His will, and our confidence rests in His faithfulness.
Guided Practice
Today, approach prayer as a conversation with your Father.
Set aside a few quiet moments to:
Praise God for who He is.
Thank Him for specific evidences of His grace.
Share honestly about your joys, fears, and concerns.
Pray for someone else's needs.
Sit quietly for a minute, remembering that God delights to be with you.
Throughout the day, return to Him with simple prayers like:
"Father, thank You for being with me."
"Jesus, help me trust You."
"Holy Spirit, lead me today."
Let every prayer become another opportunity to enjoy the presence of God.
Pray:
"Father, thank You for welcoming me through Your Son. Teach me to delight in Your presence and to speak with You honestly throughout the day. Draw me closer to Christ, and let prayer become the joyful rhythm of my life."
