✨ Today’s Discipline | Celebration
Delighting in the Joy of Christ
Celebration is the practice of intentionally rejoicing in who God is and what He has done. It teaches us to pause, remember, and delight in His faithfulness. The Christian life is not only marked by repentance, perseverance, and sacrifice—it is also marked by joy. Because Christ is risen and His kingdom is secure, we have reason to rejoice in every season.
Jesus desires that His joy would become our joy. In John 15:11 (ESV), He says, “These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full.”
Christian joy is not manufactured through positive thinking or favorable circumstances. It is received through communion with Christ. The more deeply we abide in Him, the more our hearts are anchored in a joy that cannot be taken away.
Celebration forms gratitude by training us to notice grace. We remember answered prayers, quiet mercies, unexpected provisions, and the unchanging hope of the gospel. As we celebrate God's goodness, our hearts are drawn away from anxiety and toward worship. We learn to delight not only in the gifts God gives, but in the Giver Himself.
Guided Practice
Today, intentionally celebrate the goodness of God.
Spend time praising Christ through worship, prayer, or singing.
Reflect on the past week and write down three ways you experienced His faithfulness.
Share an encouragement or testimony of God's goodness with someone else.
Enjoy one of God's gifts—a meal, fellowship, laughter, beauty in creation, or a favorite activity—with intentional gratitude.
End the day by thanking Jesus for both His blessings and His constant presence.
Pray:
"Jesus, thank You that true joy is found in You. Open my eyes to see Your faithfulness, fill my heart with gratitude, and teach me to delight in Your presence above every good gift."
Reflection Prompt
What evidence of Christ's goodness brought me joy this week, and how can I carry that gratitude into the days ahead?
