Delighting in Christ and the Joy of His Salvation
Celebration is the practice of rejoicing in who Christ is and what He has done. Christian joy is not rooted in perfect circumstances, but in the unchanging reality of the gospel. In Psalms 126:3 (ESV), the people of God proclaim, “The Lord has done great things for us; we are glad.” Celebration remembers the faithfulness of God and responds with gratitude and delight.
Throughout Scripture, joy is closely connected to God’s saving work. Christ’s death and resurrection have secured a living hope that cannot be shaken by changing emotions or difficult seasons. In 1 Peter 1:8–9 (ESV), believers are described as rejoicing with “joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory” because of Christ. Celebration becomes a way of anchoring the heart in what is eternally true.
Celebration also forms us by retraining our attention. It teaches us to notice grace, receive goodness as gift, and delight in God rather than living consumed by anxiety or lack. As we celebrate Christ, our hearts are reminded that the story is ultimately moving toward restoration, communion, and joy in His presence forever.
Guided Practice
Today, intentionally rejoice in Christ.
Spend time praising God through worship music, prayer, or reading a Psalm aloud
Reflect on specific ways you have seen Christ’s faithfulness this week
Share joy outwardly by encouraging someone or expressing gratitude to them
Receive something good today—a meal, beauty in creation, laughter, rest—as a gift from God and thank Him for it
Allow joy to become an act of worship rather than something dependent on mood or circumstance.
Reflection Prompt
Where have I seen the goodness and faithfulness of Christ recently—and how can I intentionally rejoice in Him today?
