Scripture Focus — Revelation 21:3 (ESV)
“Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God.”
Devotional Reflection
As the year draws to a close, Scripture anchors our hope not in what we will accomplish next, but in who will remain with us. God’s promise is not simply renewal, but nearness. Revelation points us forward to a future where God’s presence is fully known and forever secure. Yet even now, this promise shapes how we live and hope. The God who made His dwelling with humanity in Christ continues to dwell with His people by His Spirit.
This truth reframes the transition into a new year. Whatever uncertainties lie ahead, God does not send us forward alone. He goes with us. His presence does not depend on our faithfulness or performance; it is rooted in His covenant love. Advent reminds us that God’s deepest desire is not simply to improve our circumstances, but to be with us within them. His nearness becomes our greatest source of security and peace.
Living with this awareness transforms how we step into what comes next. We do not move forward driven by fear or pressure to reinvent ourselves. We move forward accompanied by the faithful presence of God. His dwelling with us steadies our hearts, strengthens our endurance, and reminds us that the goal of the Christian life is not self-improvement, but communion with Him.
