Devotional Reflection
Before the world knew Jesus was coming, God was already preparing a quiet place for Mary to be seen, understood, and strengthened.
Elizabeth’s home became that place.
Mary travels “with haste” to the hill country—likely overwhelmed, carrying a promise no one else could possibly understand. But the moment she crosses Elizabeth’s threshold, something holy happens: the child in Elizabeth’s womb leaps, Elizabeth is filled with the Spirit, and she speaks aloud what Mary had only heard in secret.
Elizabeth becomes confirmation.
A witness.
A mercy hidden in the hills.
Long before Mary faces public misunderstanding or the cost of obedience, God surrounds her with someone who recognizes the miracle she carries.
This is the tender heart of Advent—God provides companionship in the hidden place, encouragement before the assignment grows heavy, and affirmation in the quiet moments where obedience feels lonely.
We often imagine spiritual endurance as something cultivated alone, but God forms us in community. He sends people who speak blessing over our obedience, people who see what He is growing in us, people who strengthen our faith when we feel small.
You may not see it yet, but God has placed Elizabeths in your path—those who will celebrate what He is doing in you, even when others can’t see it.
And in time, He will make you an Elizabeth for someone else.
