✨ Today’s Discipline | Worship
Fixing Our Hearts on Christ
Worship is the practice of turning our attention toward Jesus Christ and responding to Him with love, reverence, and delight. Before worship is expressed through songs, prayers, or acts of obedience, it begins with seeing Christ for who He truly is. He is the Savior who gave Himself for us, the King who reigns over all things, and the Shepherd who faithfully leads His people. Worship is the natural response of a heart that has encountered His beauty and grace.
In Hebrews 12:2 (ESV), believers are called to be “looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith.” Worship forms us because what we consistently look at shapes what we love. As we behold Christ, our priorities are reordered, our affections are redirected, and our hearts are drawn away from lesser things toward what is eternal.
Worship is also an act of remembrance. We remember who Christ is, what He has done, and what He has promised. Through His life, death, and resurrection, we have been reconciled to God and welcomed into His presence. We do not worship to earn His love; we worship because we have already received it. Worship is the joyful response of those who know they belong to Him.
Guided Practice
Today, set aside intentional time to worship Christ.
Read a passage of Scripture that highlights the person and work of Jesus
Listen to or sing a worship song with focused attention
Write down three attributes of Christ that stir your gratitude and awe
Thank Him specifically for who He is, not only for what He has done
Offer your plans, concerns, and desires to Him as an act of surrender
Allow yourself to slow down and linger in His presence rather than rushing to the next task.
Pray:
"Jesus, open my eyes to see Your beauty more clearly. Shape my heart as I worship You and help me delight in You above all else."
Reflection Prompt
What did I see about Christ today that stirred my heart toward worship, and how might that shape the way I live this week?
