✨ Today’s Discipline | Worship

Responding to the Worthiness of Christ

Worship begins with Jesus Christ. Before worship is an activity, it is a response to who He is. He is the One through whom all things were made, the One who took on flesh to dwell among us, and the One who gave Himself for our redemption. In Revelation 5:13 (ESV), all creation joins in declaring, “To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be blessing and honor and glory and might forever and ever!” Worship is joining that eternal response.

Worship is more than singing songs or attending a service. It is the reorientation of the heart toward God. What captures our attention ultimately shapes our affections, and what shapes our affections directs our lives. In 2 Corinthians 3:18 (ESV), Paul teaches that as we behold the glory of the Lord, we are transformed into His image. Worship forms us because it fixes our gaze on Christ.

Because of the gospel, worship is not an attempt to gain God’s approval. Through Christ, we have already been welcomed into His presence. Worship becomes the joyful response of those who have received grace. It is the offering of our attention, affection, and allegiance to the One who is worthy of them all.

Guided Practice

Today, intentionally set your attention on Christ.

  • Read a passage of Scripture that reveals who Jesus is

  • Spend time listening to or singing worship music without multitasking

  • Make a list of five things you admire or love about Christ

  • Offer a prayer of praise that focuses on who He is rather than what He gives

  • Surrender one area of your life to Him as an act of worship

Allow yourself to linger in gratitude and awe rather than rushing to the next task.

Reflection Prompt

What aspect of Christ’s character stirred my heart toward worship today, and how might that shape the way I live this week?
