Receive
“The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath.”
Mark 2:27 (ESV)
Reflect
Sabbath is the weekly practice of trust. It reminds you that your life is sustained by God, not by your effort. By stopping, you resist the pressure to prove yourself and instead receive your identity as one who is held, provided for, and loved. Rest becomes a quiet declaration of faith.
Respond — Today’s Practice
Set aside intentional time today to stop working.
Do not try to “get ahead.”
Do not try to “catch up.”
Instead, choose one or two things that restore you:
quiet, prayer, delight, time with others, or simply unhurried presence.
Receive rest as a gift—not something you earn.
Prayer
Lord, teach me to trust You enough to truly rest.
Blessing
May rest renew your strength, quiet your striving, and deepen your trust in God’s faithful care.
