✨ Today’s Discipline | Prayer

Abiding with Christ in Every Moment

Prayer is the practice of drawing near to God through Jesus Christ and remaining in fellowship with Him throughout the day. It is more than bringing requests before God—it is the ongoing rhythm of a relationship. Because of Christ’s life, death, and resurrection, we have confident access to the Father. In Hebrews 10:19–22 (ESV), we are invited to “draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith.” Prayer is our response to that invitation.

Jesus lived a life of continual communion with the Father. He withdrew to pray, gave thanks before miracles, prayed for His disciples, and entrusted Himself to the Father even from the cross. His life reminds us that prayer is not simply preparation for ministry—it is the heart of life with God. Through our union with Christ, we are invited into that same communion.

Prayer also forms dependence. Every time we pray, we acknowledge that God is our source of wisdom, strength, comfort, and hope. We lay down the illusion of self-sufficiency and entrust ourselves to the One who knows us completely and loves us perfectly. As we return to Him throughout the day, our hearts become more attentive to His presence and more aligned with His will.

Guided Practice

Today, let prayer become a conversation you return to throughout the day.

Set aside a few intentional minutes to begin:

  • Thank God for His grace and faithfulness.

  • Praise Him for an aspect of His character that has encouraged you recently.

  • Bring your joys, burdens, questions, and needs before Him honestly.

  • Pray for someone else, asking God to meet them with His mercy and love.

  • End by surrendering your day into His hands.

Then continue praying as you move through your day.

When you transition between tasks, pause and pray:

  • “Jesus, help me walk with You.”

  • “Father, thank You for being near.”

  • “Holy Spirit, guide my thoughts and my words.”

Let every pause become an invitation back into communion with Christ.
