Receive
“But he answered, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”
Matthew 4:4 (ESV)
Reflect
Fasting trains your desires. It reveals what you instinctively turn to for comfort or control and gently redirects your dependence back to God. By creating space, you become more attentive, more anchored, and more aware of His sustaining presence.
Respond — Today’s Practice
Choose one thing to abstain from today.
It could be food between meals, social media, noise, or another comfort.
When the urge arises, replace it with prayer—even a simple, honest sentence to God.
Let the absence create awareness, not frustration.
Prayer
Lord, deepen my dependence on You and steady my heart.
Blessing
May this act of surrender sharpen your attention, strengthen your endurance, and anchor your trust in God’s faithful provision.
